There are a lot of things that we can buy with money but certainly not all that life has to offer can be traded for money. A general assumption is that we all want money; in fact, we use it to cater for our human basic needs, we feel good (at least i do) when we put some money into savings account, and when we save some money for emergency. The pursuit of money is chase of a lifetime more like chasing after the wind. The more you get the more you want. Solomon the wisest man who ever lived chased after riches, women, luxury, knowledge and he had a lot of it. However, he concluded:
Meaningless! Meaningless! says the Teacher. Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless. (Ecclesiastes: 1:2 NIV)
Some things money can’t buy
1. Money can’t buy life
You can buy a lot of good health insurance, life insurance, and the best healthcare there is, and i am all for these items but, money can only take you so far….. along this journey of life. When it is over! It’s OVER!
2. Money can’t buy respect
Money seems to have energy and it draws people to you when you have a lot. (The opposite is true too, when you lose it all you lose your followers as well). You can command influence because of great stuff that you can do with money. However, you cannot buy respect from others with money.
3. Money can’t buy time
We all get 24 hours a day, some people use it wisely and others waste it. Consequently, even if you own all the money there is, you cannot buy an extra hour in a day.
4. Money can’t buy joy
It takes money to buy homes/houses, cars, boats, clothes, food and most of the good things in life that brings “happiness”, but true joy cannot be bought or traded for money.
5. Money can’t buy a family
As mentioned above, you can buy great house/home, you can even be influential enough to attract beautiful women and handsome men. Needless to say, money will never buy you a healthy relationship, or a good family.
Wise people know what money can buy and what it cannot. They use the money to buy the most that it can, and invest their time on what money cannot buy.
